Classical Archives, the leading classical music platform globally, offers a range of functionalities for exploring and enjoying classical music through its mobile application:
- The application's features are conveniently accessible via the four icons located at the bottom of the screen.
- To access the player, users can tap on the 'two-notes' icon on the top-right, while the player queue can be reached by selecting the [Q] icon at the top. (Refer to the instructions below for guidance on utilizing the player queue.)
- Library: This section provides access to works categorized by composer, performer, or title search. Users can select a specific work and choose their preferred performance to listen to.
- Must Know: Curated by musicologists, this collection features approximately 800 seminal classical music works. By selecting a piece from this list, users will always hear the latest release performance, in contrast to selecting from The Library.
- Playlists: Users can enjoy pre-made featured playlists or create and listen to their custom playlists of up to 12 hours. A Classical Archives subscriber account is necessary for this feature.
- Radio: The radio function continuously streams single movements or complete works based on users' chosen periods and genres, spanning from Early & Renaissance to Modern/Contemporary. This includes genres such as Orchestral, Solo/Chamber, Vocal, and Stage (including Operas). The radio queue automatically replenishes until user intervention.
Depending on their Classical Archives membership status (visitor, member, or subscriber), users have unrestricted access to complete tracks and works or may be restricted to listening to track previews only. There are no restrictions on the number of tracks or works that can be played.
The app's player supports queuing functionality (accessible by tapping the [Q] icon at the top), allowing users to queue complete symphonies or even full operas. While multiple works and tracks can be added to the queue, it is capped at 20 tracks. Each played track is automatically removed from the queue. Users can edit the queue (removing a track by clicking 'X') and skip directly to any track for immediate playback.
